History

SPF Precut Lumber is a family-founded, family-owned, and family operated Canadian forestry exporter with humble beginnings and ambitious vision.

In 1990, a young couple – within only one year of immigrating to Canada – leased a typewriter and a fax machine. From their small basement suite in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Muhammad Amir and Shaheen Zafar founded Pacific Prince Investments Inc (later known by its trade name, SPF Precut Lumber). With little, aside from their ambition and work ethic, the family would embark upon a lifelong mission, to promote and export Canadian softwood lumber products across the globe.

Over the years, SPF Precut Lumber broadened its export activities and ventured into remanufacturing. In 1996, Fareed Amir joined the company, which further supported SPF Precut Lumber’s expansion into markets that had never before imported Canadian softwood products. In 2009, Mo Amir joined and helped further develop the company’s innovative operational model. To this day, SPF Precut Lumber is wholly family-owned.

With an annual export of about 200-million boardfeet to the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Mexico, SPF Precut Lumber is proud to be an ambassador for Canadian softwood lumber, in addition to a supplier of American softwoods and hardwoods, European softwood, and logs. In countries such as Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Bahrain, Jordan, and Israel, SPF Precut Lumber introduced specific Canadian wood products – such as Stud Grade lumber, wane-free lumber, and pallet stock – that had never been used before in those markets.

In 2013, SPF Precut Lumber made history in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when it independently hosted the first-ever Canadian Softwood Lumber Grading Seminar in the Gulf region. The event was reprised in 2015. Both events garnered international media coverage.

With its winning team and the support of its partners, SPF Precut Lumber enthusiastically celebrates the bright future ahead that has been built upon over three decades of delivering the necessary lumber and log products to customers all over the world.
